The City of Hollandale is accepting applications for a Public Works Maintenance Worker to assist with general city maintenance and water/sewer system operations. This hands-on role plays a vital part in keeping our city clean, functional, and safe year-round.
Maintain and service city equipment (lawnmowers, snowplows, etc.)
Mow and trim city-owned properties
Use city sweeper to clear rocks from yards (gravel roads only)
Trim trees and pick up sticks
Spray weeds and manage vegetation control
Monitor and maintain brush pile; oversee burning operations
Maintain and wash the public pavilion
Repair broken park equipment
Install and remove volleyball nets, flags, and seasonal decorations (e.g., Christmas lights)
Plow snow and apply sand to roads as needed
Paint fire hydrants
Turn city water on/off as necessary
Assist in repairing broken water mains
Respond to and mark utility locations for Gopher One calls (water/sewer mains)
Read and record water meter data
Monitor and maintain the city well house
Oversee chemical levels (chlorine and fluoride)
Monitor and service lift stations
Flush fire hydrants monthly (during summer)
Inspect manholes and remove blockages
Maintain sewer ponds (riprap, animal control, etc.)
Discharge sewer ponds following regulations
Experience in maintenance, plumbing, or utility services preferred
Ability to operate machinery and tools safely
Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions
Strong attention to detail and reliability
Valid driver’s license
